Five to six piece formation originally going as 'The Sunliners'. Renamed in 1968, crossing over between Soul and Jazz Rock and famous for their versions of assorted Motown hits.
Trivia: Berry Gordy, after listening to their demos assuming they were Afro-Americans, signed them via representatives - only to find out that they weren't. They remained the 1st and only all-white band to be signed to that label, subsequently establishing the Rare Earth sublabel.
