Songwriter (generally as a composer) and pianist born in Brooklyn, New York. When he was 16 he left school to join a vaudeville act with Pinky Lee and Richard Himber. He then wrote and played for Helen Morgan. He also wrote songs for the Ziegfeld Follies, the Cotton Club Parade and other shows. He also composed songs and scores for motion pictures and television shows.
