Multi-instrumentalist, leader and sideman in classical, R&B and jazz projects. As a leader he has mostly recorded on saxophone. White is also a musicologist who has transcribed and published through his own "Andrew's Music" over 700 transcriptions of John Coltrane solos. In his capacity as a musicologist, he is known as the "Keeper of the Trane".
