Jazz musician who played clarinet, soprano sax and alto sax. Pittman was also a vocalist. Pittman was born in the United States and was a grandson of Booker T. Washington.
He moved to Brazil in 1937 where he was nicknamed "Buca". His step-daughter, Eliana Pittman, with whom he recorded, is a famous Brazilian jazz singer and actress.
