Added, thank you.
Adjusted. Thanks.
Added versions:
247) My Old Kentucky Home by Geraldine Farrar (1910)
304) Yes! We've Got No Bananas by the Great White Way Orchestra (1923) with Billy Murray
349) No Charge by Shirley Caesar (1975)
Both versions are here Joop, I think they're alright.
The first on UK Columbia (BT) and the second on Decca (PT).
Looks good. Thanks!
Adjusted.
The 1935 version was released in the CD era ultimately:

So, I guess it does qualify?
Leadbelly recorded the song more than once:

Huddie Ledbetter vocal/guitar
(LoC # 139-A-2) "The Maid Freed from the Gallows".
New York City December 26, 1938

(LoC # 2501-A) "Mama, Did You Bring Me Any Silver?"

Added Hally's now. Thanks for the tip.
Added Gibb's. Seeing Kenny's rec date, I doubt if he really has the first cut.
In 1952 Eddie Jefferson released his version on Hi-Lo 1413,
which was a subsidiary of the NYC-based Savoy record label.

This version on YT. Isn't this an "adaptation" with new lyrics btw?
Also likewise, in 1979, the Manhattan Transfer recorded a cover-version
with completely new lyrics.
"Self-released in July 2007 and in February 2008 re-released through the Jagjaguwar label with a new album cover. In May 2008, 4AD picked the album up for release in the UK and Europe."
Don't know if this can be varified somewhere...
The HB recordings (film & single) are very different. I have both versions as mp3. But what the first recorded would be, I have no idea.
Changed the writer credits.
