Label formed by Jonie Taps and Harry Cohn and based in New York City. Colpix was film studio Columbia Pictures' first foray into the record business. Besides making mainstream pop records, the label released soundtracks to Columbia films and records by the stars of TV series produced by Columbia's television division, Screen Gems. Colpix was succeeded by the Colgems label in 1966.
