Is there a way to reduce line noise?

Hey all,

Is there a inexpensive way to reduce line noise? even without spending 100$ on a noise gate filter? My parents told me I cannot spend 1 more dollar on stuff for the rest of the year.

I have been noticing a bit of noise through my amp when when trying to record through my amp with a microphone....(used to be a lot more)

Anybody can help me? 3ks a lot.

It obviously depends on what you're recording and your equipment. Generally you have to minimize interference and leakage from everything electrical in the area. Plugs and connectors can pick up noise and cable flaws or cheap cables will cause problems. This is particularly true if you have everything cranked up. If you have different mics, try each one out.
