Ain't She Sweet

Ain't She Sweet ? (original titlesong with question mark) :

Wishing you all a happiest New Year 2010.***Recorded by The Beatles in Germany on 06/23/1961 with Pete Best on drums at the Friedrich Ebert Halle in Hamburg, 136 Reeperbahn, Sankt Pauli part [prod. by Bert Kaempfert] and released on (German/UK) Polydor NH 52317 on 05/29/1964 as well as the US ATCO single***Here are the origins of Ain't She Sweet?: Florenz Ziegfeld's musical Kid Boots opening at the Earl Carroll Theater on 12/31/1923 starring i.a. Eddie Cantor (no Ain't she sweet ? on the horizon).*** First revived 1927 recording as a piano tune by Frank Banta in early January (Victor) in something of a relaxed mood followed by Harry Richman [Brunswick 3435, 01/27/27], music composed by Milton Ager in 1926 as well and just before the first vocal version of that year (lyrics by Jack Yellen in 1926 recorded in 1927 by Ben Bernie's Hotel Roosevelt Orchestra, vocals by Scrappy Lambert & Billy Hilpot [US #1] and issued on Brunswick 3444 on 01/28/27 !***Ben Bernie aka Bernard Anzelevitz was born May 30, 1891, Bayonne, NJ and died on Oct. 23, 1943.***Eddie Cantor (again) : in the paramount film "Kid Boots", in October 1926. (corrected)

The song could not have been written in 1927 but published only seeing it was already sung in Kid Boots in October 1926.

Nota: you can compare this topic with the one written in my Beatles Skynetblog. No worries...My topic is nearly the same than this one (including the Frank Banta catno on Victor released in early January 1927)

Lou Gold and His Orchestra ? When was it released in 1927 seeing it was recorded on 1/17/1927 ?

When I look at the Song List of the original musical "Kid Boots", I do not see a song with the title "Ain't She Sweet"

In fact, no Ain't she sweet ? in the "first" Kid Boots which opened on 12/31/1923.

For sure this song could not have been written in 1927 seeing it was already sung by Eddie Kanter/Cantor in October 1926 in the Paramount film Kid Boots.

So, 1927 was the year of copyright and publishing.

Stephan, you can drink that Nespresso, while watching the movie "Kid Boots".

As it is a silent movie, Eddie Cantor couldn't have sung it in "Kid Boots".

watch it here (it takes a few seconds to load the movie (here you can drink another Nespresso ) Smile

Stephan, A few comments before you were talking about the 1926 Kid Boots. You said: "For sure this song could not have been written in 1927 seeing it was already sung by Eddie Kanter/Cantor in October 1926 in the Paramount film Kid Boots".

And do you have a link to that second version of "Kid Boots" from 1927 ??

Kid Boots from 1926 doesn't contain "Ain't She Sweet".

And Eddie Cantor also didn't record a 78 of "Ain't She Sweet".

http://www.honkingduck.com/discography/artist/eddie_cantor

The first occasion Edie Cantor recorded the song was in 1957 for the album "Best Of" on the VIK-label (VIK 1119)

So first recording of "Ain't She Sweet" remains IMO Lou Gold Orchestra.
