Wanted: the album on which "Tainted love" by Gloria Jones was first released.

Tainted Love was orginally recorded by Gloria Jones in 1964 and written by former Four Prep member Edward C. Cobb. Tainted Love refuses to die. The Gloria Jones single ended up in a Leeds club in the late '70's, and was heard by Dave Ball. He presented the song to Marc Almond in early 1981, and the rest is history.

My guess is it's recorded as a single (on Uptown records?)

I think so too. I believe the first album it appeared on was Vixen (1975).

Champion 14003, 1964 (probably a sub-sub label of Uptown/Capitol/EMI) - 7 inches unissued on Uptown in the U.S.A. ;-)
