koan is no longer an editor on the site. There was some recent editors' guidance on this. Does it help?
Sebastian
Based on the guidelines you (Sebcat) referenced, the song should probably be listed as Italian language. It's almost entirely in Italian. The only English phrase is the title "Time to Say Goodbye" which appears only a couple of times. I'm not sure if the Italian lyrics are the same as in the original Bocelli version. If so, should this even be a new work or just a cover?
I agree - it does sound like a good way to handle it
...although I wonder therefore what Frank Peterson's role is?

I guess Frank Peterson's role was writing the phrase "Time to Say Goodbye." It's not a direct translation of "con te partiro." On the one hand, it doesn't seem like enough of a change to justify being an adaptation. (The Italian lyrics seem unchanged.) On the other hand there is a GEMA entry for it, and it does seem a neat way to separate the all-Italian covers from the Italian-English covers. Thoughts?
I'm going to go ahead and change the language to Italian for now though.
Sure
How will you represent Frank Peterson's copyright credit?
I left it as an adaptation, changed the language to Italian, added a comment about the English lyrics, and added the GEMA reference.
Yes. I've assigned it to myself so I can close it.
