Remarks : "Hackberry Hop" is often mentioned as a possible precursur of "Route 90" / "Sweet Ltlle Sixteen"/ "Surfin USA" but it was only a link in the chain of this songcluster.
1 year before Leo Soileau's "Hackberry Hop" the Breaux Freres recorded "T'as vole mon chapeau". The melody is almost the same and the lyrics deal with the same subject.
But another 2 months prior, Joseph Falcon, together with his wife, recorded "Ils La Volet Mon Trancas". Same melody, same subject.
And than there is the possible connection with "Zydeco Sont Pas Sales" (or "Les Haricots Sont Pas Sales").
