Bootlegs are relases, aren't they? Sorry. i have my Discogs hat on too often and it's not a question there that these are released to the public.
Which brings me again to a point where i feel there are some very annoying rules that do not benefit the database purpose and the do not serve the purpose of research at all (like the fact that the year must be known, whcih is absolutely counterproductive). I personnally would like to know about these and if i found out that they are not listed here, would be very disappointed.
I dleted it but this rule should be thought over. It is NOT for the benefit of the database as mentioned above. In contrary. I don't think it was well thought through. You might think differently, but in fact it is not. People coming to this database expect a comprehensive overview and exlcuding information is not supporting this. I understand the rationale but it is shortsighted IMO, just as the mentioned need for a relase date. The release date is a bonus but the important information is that a certain cover exists at all. When it was released is secondary and can e added once known. This is how you do research: Collect information as you have them and then built on it by adding bits and pieces once you have them. Not by releasing comprehensive information all at once.
If you want a discussion of the Guideline, best to start a new topic on the "Guidelines" board.
