It's a tough one Jon as the single charted first on 19 Jan 1980 and the album on 2 Feb 1980 now it may have been pressed just at the end of 1979...
Hmmmmm, you're right, tricky... :-) Songs did sometimes take longer to get in the charts in those days, but a definitive answer will be difficult to find.
I was vaguely thinking of researching Matchbox as they did a number of covers e.g. "Over The Rainbow" that are not in the db, but that is something for the future.

Finally got round to this one :-)
Don't know their source, but http://www.45cat.com/record/mag157 says the single was released in November 1979.
