Still Smoke on the water (DP) by Dream Theater. If not, I don't see anything else except Fun³ by Status Quo featuring The Beach Boys (UK #28).

I'm not much into covers, but Amazing grace by Aaron Neville is a good one.

And I like Rob de Nijs. He has origakl material, but he sometimes sing Dutch versions of ballads. He does them more then very well...

I think the cover of all covers has to be Jimi Hendrix's version of Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower", this one has been my favourite for as long as I can remember, even before I learned it was in fact a cover... Smile

I also love Dave Matthews' take on it, but Jimi's remains the best, imho.

My current "modern" favourite is probably the Stones' "Gimme Shelter" as done by Scottish lad Paolo Nutini, which unfortunately's not in the DB, what with it being a bootleg recording, I guess...

Michael Hedges' own take on it is no slouch either, though, and I think it has appeared on some album, so it should be added, but I'm not sure, will check...

Rock el casbah is indeed a great cover. Recently, on the radio I heard that he claims The Clash covered him. Apparently he sent them a demo and that would have inspired them to make "Rock the casbah".

I've never seen it anywhere except on a PBS broadcast from years ago, but Dr. John does an AMAZING version of the Beatles' "Come Together" - He really brings that swamp-gas, hoodoo stomp to it.

I have it on an old VHS recording, and unfortunately, the recording was broadcast incomplete - It came in probably about halfway through the Doctor's performance. But if any of you stumble across a complete copy of it, I'd be deeply indebted.

I would have to say Fifth Harmony's cover of Taylor Swift's Red. I am not a pop girl these days myself unless it's before 2004 but I love their version way better than Swifts because they can actually sing! LOL. Great arrangement and great harmonies.
