Dead End Kids

Two different bands have been mixed up.

The band who covered "Rockaway Beach" from The Ramones is an American punkband.

The other band was a British band who released only one LP ("Breakout" on CBS 82254)and some singles including the 2 covers, they were produced by Barry Blue.

Greetings.

Actually, I created the original "Dead End Kids", and Canary and baggish added songs of a different band. So guys, have a look at this.

Also Patrick, do you have more info on the American Dead End Kids?

Sorry Bastien ,

I couldn't find info on the American punkband Dead End Kids.

I only found a Myspace from a Canadian band.

As the rest of the bands on the CD "Ramones Maniacs" are American,I pressume these Dead End Kids are also American.

They are certainly not the same as the British teenybopperband who covered "Have I The Right" and "Glad All Over" and who were produced by Barry Blue.

Greetings.

Patrick

1. Created a new artist "Dead End Kids [1]" for the UK band, and transferred my song/medium to it. Canary, can you transfer yours to this new artist as well?

2. See thread http://www.secondhandsongs.com/forum/index.php?topic=27280. "Have I the Right" by the UK Dead End Kids was a No. 6 hit single in the UK. It can be said therefore that they are more famous than the other Dead End Kids. So, according to the guidelines, the UK band should be "Dead End Kids" and the Ramones-tribute band should be "Dead End Kids [1]".

3. More info about the Ramones tribute album: http://kauhajokinyt.fi/~jplaitio/levykans/deadtri.html. Note:

a. Release date is October 2001 (what looks like a contemporary message at http://www.punknews.org/day/2001/10/10 apparently confirms this)

b. Label is Trend is Dead!, not Trent is Dead!

(The collection "Ramones Mania" mentioned at kauhajokinyt.fi is a Ramones compilation http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Backstage/2916/ramones/songs/1mania.html, http://ivo.ingwie.de/discography.html#Mania, so no need to worry about previous releases of the songs on "Ramones Maniacs".)

4. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramones_Maniacs, the tribute album includes one Australian band and one Canadian band. Could Dead End Kids be the Canadian band, and therefore the same one whose MySpace page you found?

Unfortunately Trend is Dead!'s website (members.aol.com/trendydead/tid008.html) is dead so we can't get any info from them. The archive of that page at http://web.archive.org/web/20040807191816/http://members.aol.com/trendydead/tid0... appears to be the source of wikipedia's information, so we can be fairly sure the "one Australian band and one Canadian band" is correct.

I contacted all Dead End Kids profiles on MySpace, let's hope it's one of them (and that they answer).

the Dead End Kids that covered "Rockaway Beach" for the Ramones Maniacs tribute compilation on tREND iS dEAD! records was a band from Florida (USA). my contact with that band was through Generic who also ran Skanking Skull Records (label that put out Dead End Kids, Garage Rats and more) and wrote for MRR.

the current tREND iS dEAD! records site is at:

here's a little info about Skanking Skull/Dead End Kids:

(but the D.E.K. link there is out of service)
