Salomé

Salomé: based on Richard Strauss' Salomé, 1919.

There are also 2 German covers in 1961. Just take the time to search them here at home.

German original by Lucas-Quartett, Orchester Erich Werner, Polydor NH 24 463, March 1961 (Salome)

Other German version by Die Larson-Boys, Orchester Jackie Norden, Starlet, Bestell-Nr. 1703, 1961. (same spelling). Opera exerpt...However, what's the passage used for Romeo/Roméo ???

Also recorded in French by Les Compagnons de la Chanson at the same time as Petula Clark did (with the same lyrics.) Ref.: EP ESRF 1101 - single SCRF 506, 1961.

Added the 2 German versions.

But can you give me some proof that this song is based on Shéhérazade?

Of course. I heard it a few days ago and told my father: "hey, Romeo/Salomé, it's based on Sheherazade". I would have said "Richard Strauss' Salomé" Wink

Oups, mislead agin. Based on Richard strauss' Salomé in 1919. Look for a MP3... (11/20/2009).

Afterwards, I went down to the cellar and took the singles to listen to them. I was right about the English & French covers by Petula Clark.

And you, why don't you listen to it ?

Sorry, confusion. Mathé Altéry recorded an EP including Sheherazade based on the well known classical...

What a mess Happy

While this topic was still pending, I spotted some issues

Salomé has no dates or no medium.

Salome and Salome are both adaptations by Arthur Rebner. Aren't they duplicates?
