History
To the best of my knowledge, Bill Tapia is still alive. I added the date of death for Art Hodes. The Comments for both Lil Johnson and Bob Haring both indicate that the respective artists are deceased, but date of death could not be established.

George Beverly Shea recently celebrated his 102nd birthday with a lifetime achievement Grammy for his gospel singing - and he still performs!
Perhaps it means we, being musically involved, will live very long lives, working on SHS in our dotage.
In consideration of having many inexact dates for birth/death, I can see why death dates are missing. Those inexact dates are NOT PERMITTED at SHS. And aside from name changes due to marriage/remarriage, more people disappear from public view than you think - ask any detective who specializes in missing person searches.
- Just because there is no death date does not imply that the person is still alive. I really don't think people make this assumption.
- Just because there is a death date but no birth date doesn't mean the person is living his life backwards.
- Just because both dates are lacking doesn't mean the person does not exist, if you want to get ridiculous.
- And so is the reported exact date correct under what criteria? Someone born June 22 at 1800 in Chicago was born on June 23 in European view. So who reported the date, where were they and how did they determine the date? And if you think this is trivial, you haven't seen enough reported release dates different by a day depending on where the reporter was.
I have checked my entries and stand by the dates given or have not found any additional data on the "open" artists.
koan's Christina Rossetti death date was a transcription error, now corrected.

Domenico Titomanlio's birthday is correct, but nobody knows when he died.
Corrected John H. Hopkins Jr.
Jimmie Davis really died at the age of 101 (at least that's what official documents say).
While I certainly agree with Alan that the absence of a date of death may be for inability to verify as opposed too error or oversight, I though this posting did serve a useful purpose. It did lead to a number of corrections, including one of my entries and caused me to recheck if Bill Tapia was still alive. I think this type of posting is beneficial as an aid to protecting the integrity of the data.
Some would say I'm already in my dotage, but I'd take another 43, making me 100, dying over my keyboard, entering SHS data.
Bill Tapia died one month shy of his 104th birthday a few days ago.
Updated mine. We should better make this into an error list instead of a forum topic.
