I've Never Been to Me

The song was first released in February 1977 on the ALBUM: Charlene (Prodigal - P610015S1) credited to Charlene DUNCAN (on the spine only). That's several months before the single release in July 1977 (which was an alternate shortened version btw).

"She next appeared on Motown's Prodigal label with "It Ain't Easy Comin' Down," (chart action: FEBRUARY 1977 - Billboard) which was credited to Charlene, though an album issued the same month had Charlene Duncan on the spine (confusingly, it was titled Charlene). Another album, Songs of Love from May 1977, was a repackaging of the previous album with a new version of one song, "I've Never Been to Me," this time missing a spoken bridge. Issued as her third single, it became the most successful to date with a number 97 showing on the charts. AMG

"First release: I've Never Been to Me by Charlene on audio single I've Never Been to Me (1977)"

This is not the case.

Charlene may have had the first cut, but Randy Crawford's album was reviewed in BB on Oct 23, 1976.

Charlene's was "recorded before the Randy Crawford version."

Can you remember where you got this info from?

Thanks for the adjustments.
