Ten years of SecondHandSongs

Somewhere in late 2002, three young Belgians had an idea: let’s create a database of cover songs! It took a few months to put the idea into practice and create the initial website, which was launched on March 24, 2003. That’s exactly ten years ago today!

Meanwhile a lot has been happening on the ever-evolving world wide web, other cover sites came and went, but SecondHandSongs survived them all. We kept growing slowly but steadily, up to the point we can now safely claim that SecondHandSongs is the most comprehensive and accurate resource for cover song information on earth.

Of course this wouldn’t have been possible without the continuous efforts of the ever-growing team of SecondHandSongs editors. These walking music encyclopedias have always guaranteed the quality of the database and the great variety of genres and languages included. A big thanks to them!

While today is the actual birthday of SecondHandSongs, we’ll be celebrating it for a full year. We’ve been working hard preparing all kinds of exciting new features, competitions and much more, which we will launch gradually throughout the year. Be sure to follow us on Facebook or Twitter to stay updated.

Congratulations. Nice idea and helpful page: great that you´ve chosen one of my favourite 60s songs for the announcement. Covered by Todd Rundgren in 1976, album Faithful. Smile)
