Are you sure the cylinder was not released? Hattie Nevada was a pseudonym of Harriet Woodbury who, with her husband, owned the Kansas City Talking Machine Company. founded in 1897. The KCTMC commercially sold cylinders which they produced, including some recorded by "Hattie Nevada."
Today I set as the original release of "Letter Edged in Black" the version by May C. Hyers which was recorded in 1898 for the KCTMC.
