Description

This theme was composed by Cole Porter and it's a musical number of the film Born To Dance released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1936 November.

The theme was recorded for the soundtrack but, moreover, that same year, it was recorded by others singers and orchestras.

I found six recordings in five labels: Bluebird, Brunswick (2), Conqueror, Decca and Victor. What was the first performance?

After to check The Online Discographical Project, I think that the first performance is the recording by

Frances Langford with Jimmy Dorsey & His Orchestra on format 78 RPM, Decca 939, 1936-Aug-07.

There is numberless covers of this theme.

I like much the cover by Frank Sinatra & Bono on Sinatra's album {+Duets+}, Capitol, 1993

The original was sung in the movie by Virginia Bruce. Added the covers by Frances Langford and Frank Sinatra.

The online disco project is very interesting, I bookmarked it!
