Comments: This musical is based on Al Capp's comic strip of the same name. Its first performance was as part of a tryout run at the National Theatre in Washington DC. It opened its Broadway run at the St. James Theatre on November 15, 1956. Li'l Abner released in the same month as the Broadway run started.
