According to several sources "Family Bible" was written in 1957 by Willie Nelson, who sold it to Breeland, Buskirk and Gray for a small amount.
Nelson's grandmother singing “Rock of Ages” and reading from her Bible after supper is said to have been his inspiration for the song. - Published by
