- "The Handsome Cabin Boy", also widely known as "The Female Cabin Boy" is collected in the Roud Folk Song Index as 239. This is one of many sea songs written by sailors to amuse themselves during long voyages. In this song, a female disguises herself as male to take on a sailing job and is discovered by the captain, who gets her pregnant. This song has been found in collections dating to at least 1905.
