- Phil Phillips claimed for many years that label owner George Khoury was not a co-writer of "Sea Of Love". In those days it was standard practice for label owners to give themselves composer credits. Phillips took the matter to court several times in the 1980s and 1990s when other people were coming out with hit cover versions. Unfortunately Khoury's Kamar Music had by then been taken over by the powerful Trio/Fort Knox publishing empire making it hard for a little guy from Louisiana to win. See here for some details.
