From the 1934 film Поручик Киже {Poruchik Kizhe} [Lieutenant Kizhe] The film score was composed by Sergei Prokofiev during 1933 when he was resident in Paris. Prokofiev later created his Opus 60 by re-orchestrating, polishing and combining themes from the film score. Opus 60 is known as the "Lieutenant Kijé Suite" written that way by Prokofiev since it was published in France but creating subsequent pronunciation confusion elsewhere. The titles of the movements given here are from the later suite the premiere of which was performed on Soviet radio on December 21, 1934.
