The main signature theme of the James Bond films, introduced in the 1962 "Dr. No" movie. There has been some controversy on the actual authorship; courts have ruled twice that the theme was written by Monty Norman, despite claims and testimony by John Barry (who arranged the theme for "Dr. No"), that he had actually written the theme. Monty Norman has consequently won two libel actions against publishers for claiming that Barry wrote the theme. Not to be confused with John Barry’s 007 of course.
Monty Norman and lyricist Julian More wrote this song, "Bad Sign, Good Sign," in 1961 for a musical adaptation of V.S. Naipaul's novel "A House for Mr. Biswas." The musical never made it to the stage, but the tune served him well as The James Bond Theme.
