Although it was released in August 1959, and therefore is strictly speaking a 50s record, it never the less became the sound of the first half of the next decade. Gwen Gordy owned and ran the Anna label (named after her sister) Money was the biggest seller on the label reaching number two on the R&B charts. It was also the seventh release, # 54027, on the fledgling Tamla label that same year.
