I am a new member and would like to congratulate you on a wonderful & useful site. Probably the best music search site I have ever seen.

Your research is awesome, I will be contributing as much as time allows.

Bless you all.

Old thread but my quick search didn't find anyone more appropriate so here goes, the bump of the century:

Thank you.

I just found this site and as i said on my homeforum: "This is a musicnerds wet dream."

I immediately linked it so don't be surprised if you suddenly gets more members from northern Europe. Wink

Oh, are you in need of more?

I have spent all in all maybe half an hour here so i haven't a clue yet how you manage it, but it seems like a great site and THE best cover database i've seen.

Yes, we need more editors because there are lot genres and regions we don't cover yet. We have only 1 editor from Scandinavia for example.

Okay, but i can't promise anything. Wink

I have spent the last hour or so adding videos and rating songs but more than that i haven't had the time to get in to.

Anyway, thanks for the quick feedback, that more than anything shows that you care for your site. Smile

It's me who has to thank YOU! In the past we were providing information, now thanks to contributors like you, people can also listen to the songs!

Now you got me blushing... Wink

But since it came up: whats your policy on adding videos that are not the original video?

Are live-versions okay if nothing elses can be found on youtube?

Yes

- If sound quality is ok

- If they way it is performed is similar to the version listed in the database

How would one establish the similarity if one is not familiar with the original?

How would one know which of several available performances is the one in the database, particularly in the case of MP3s without a medium or performances from a compilation?

How does one establish the similarity if the version listed in the database is not readily available? Is a 30 second sample clip sufficient to establish similarity?

Can you, please, be more specific about what would be required from an editor?

Hi PHRED,

This gives you a very basic idea:

Start off with adding some covers, be as complete as possible and include links to the sources used. To give you an idea of some of the online resources we use:

http://www.secondhandsongs.com/wiki/Main/Bookmarks

We'll be checking these boards on a regular basis so if you do have questions just ask them in the right board: http://www.secondhandsongs.com/forum

That's it for starters. I hope you'll give us a try !

Regards,

Limbabwe
