Unfortunately there are major inconsistencies in dates various sources attribute to these 78 rpm box sets. I recently posted another, Cowboy Songs and Negro Spirituals by Carl Sandburg. wirz.de gives 1945 for the year of issue while 78discography.com shows 6 of the 8 sides for this box set were recorded in 1947. However, the copyright dates and Billboard reviews for this box set and the Katherine Dunham set are consistent and point to January 1947 as the likely month that they were released.
