He joined the United Press in 1927 and, during his more than 50 years with UP, he covered many historical events including Franklin Roosevelt's first inauguration, Queen Elizabeth's wedding and the Lindbergh baby murder. He spend most of his life based in London. He also wrote songs as well as film and television scripts. He served as BMI's London office consultant.
